We loved having our wedding here! There was hardly any communication between the employees when it came to questions I had about my wedding. Gina is fantastic and very responsive to questions and great to work with. This is by far the perfect wedding venue because it has multiple rooms depending on your price range and guest count. Both theaters, which accommodate up to 230 guests, flaunt soaring hand-painted ceilings, impressive stages, and dramatic balconies that even the ancient gods would be envious of their beauty. TCA has a pretty long and detailed contract, and they have many rules about anything and everything you could think of, so just make sure you read through everything prior to signing the contract and ask as many questions as you can think of!! Situated on Chautauqua Lake, the Athenaeum offers an environment where guests can rest and relax in close proximity to Chautauqua Institution's many events and experiences. The food at the tasting was not good. David's Bridal runs the gamut, so you'll find prices as low as $70 on sale and as high as $1,500, but there are tons of options under the $200 mark. They take care of everything for you and it was so nice to have food/alcohol/decor all from one place. All the staff are very friendly and you can tell they are compassionate about what they do! We had some special decorations to honor our loved ones who are no longer with us, and they placed those decorations with special care and attention. Every single person who came to our wedding told us how delicious the food was!! Gina was fantastic! This delayed dinner but the staff smoothly transitioned to the new timeline. She returned later after checking the hotel and with other party-goers and begged them to please check the reception one more time. Gina pulled together everything I asked for. She was told it was late, they wanted to go home and she could come back Monday. Every time I email my event manager, Gina she gets back to me super quick. Everyone still talks about how good the food was. For an unforgettable day, this vintage palace tells a story of beauty through time as eternal as your love for your partner. I would talk to my coordinator and then come in Nate & I just had our reception at the TCA on November 4th. Our ceremony was in the Priory and reception in the Oak Room. I loved that Jackie had food waiting for us at our seats when we entered the reception and she went through the buffet line and filled our plates right away so we could eat while the other tables were in line. I found when working with the staff, there was a lot of miscommunication. We had a wedding of about 150, so we picked the size of rooms to fit our wedding. Incredible doesnt even being to describe. We absolutely fell in love with the Large Theater. and the night was better than we could have ever imagined. If you choose a non-preferred vendor, my advice is to choose someone who is at least familiar with the Athenaeum. They literally handle everything for you in regards to set up, which makes wedding day stress minimal! All the station options we had picked we had personally tried at the tasting date and they did not disappoint! The dcor is already so pretty that we only spent $150 for the tables which we used for artificial leaves and table numbers. with it. The planning was simple. The coordinator left out the part that she WAS NOT a part of the rehearsal, and it was on us to do it. Overall, we were very happy with our venue choice. All night long I had people telling me how wonderful the food was and how beautiful it looked. I was also told by several guests that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. For cocktail hour we did a meatball bar and it was such a hit. We picked the Athenaeum for the ease of everything being under one roof, and not having to go far between the ceremony and reception. Jackie and the rest of the staff made it so easy on me. I especially want to point out TCA was beyond accommodating to dietary needs. Everything from the food to the linens was perfect. Our reception was in the ballroom. We have a very "foodie" family and everyone raved about our wedding food. Overall, we were very happy and would definitely recommend TCA! 3/They are also very strict with load-in and load-out times. They are efficient, affordable, flexible, friendly, helpful and on the day of the event were extremely attentive. My husband and I were even given the chance to get a sneak peek at our rehearsal of the Oak Room. We gave them the items that we wanted placed on the tables and they did the rest. b carving station for dinner. Jackie was our venue coordinator and made wedding planning such a breeze! All in all, if you use this venue, please do, it is great and central location in Columbus. Overall - unprofessional a Im sorry you had a bad experience here at the Columbus Athenaeum. Even though a few minor problems happened during our event everything else was perfect! Everything was absolutely beautiful, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We also only used recommended vendors from the provided list from TCA. The staff asked her to leave because they needed to lock up and she did and continued her search. are all included AND TCA provides a healthy list of reputable vendors for flowers, photography, cake, and music. It was gorgeous and the food was delicious. It's a pretty venue with great food, but I don't think for the thousands of dollars we spent the service was what it should have been & staff was not up to par and my husband and I should not have had to lift a finger for the $$ spent. I keep hearing from our guests that it was the best "wedding food" that they have ever had! It was elegant and gilded and luxurious looking and perfectly matched the feel I was looking for. Gina really helped us to make our day exactly as we had planned to every last detail! She is kind, helpful and so attentive to detail. We were finally able to hold our reception at The Columbus Athenaeum on June 26, 2021 in the Large Theatre. You will not be disappointed by this venue! I will say that she was much colder and a little more hesitant to do what we wanted. I also borrowed a lot of decorations from the Athenaeum, which turned out beautifully. The Columbus Athenaeum was a lovely venue for our wedding reception! Gina was absolutely amazing to work with and making sure that every detail was taken care of. Both of their welcoming attitudes, their ability to make you feel comfortable and calm, but most importantly, their accommodations and caring attitude. I am a very Type A person, and she was so organized, always responding to my emails within hours, answering any and all of my questions, and going above and beyond and match our vision of what we wanted our reception to be! We hand-picked 3 couples to help take decorations/cake/gifts home with them that night, and Ben worked with each to get them loaded out before our deadline. The room was large enough to hold a big wedding and the wrap around balcony above My husband and I agree that The Columbus Athenaeum was the greatest choice we made for our wedding. We worked with their in house florist and design lady, Tracy. I cant recommend this venue enough! A timeless landmark in the community, it hosts weddings and corporate events, as well as concerts and theatrical productions. When I looked at my watch with the last load it said 11:28. I understand that this is "normal", but our outstanding balance was approximately 1% of our total bill, and I believe the situation could have been handled with that in mind. We had a phenomenal wedding at an affordable price in a historic and beautiful location!
